Our client is a Dynamic Global Trading Organisation that defines itself through innovative thinking, market responsiveness and the use of cutting edge technologies. With offices in multiple locations around the world, they use their Sydney CBD office to run the Asian trading operations and this is the second largest office for the organisation with their Head Office based in London. Due to strategic growth our client is looks for a talented proactive Linux / Unix specialist to join as a Infrastructure Support Analyst.
This is a new role to support the expanding Quant Trading Team. Based in Sydney CBD, you will be working with a small, highly entrepreneurial team - a rapidly growing group of enthusiastic, computer-savvy developers and traders in a primarily Linux workplace.
Working in a bespoke team of two you will provide infrastructure support and environment enhancements to facilitate the ongoing development and execution of high-volume, low-latency trading systems. Drawing on your experience in data intensive environments, you will look to introduce the latest technologies and industry best practice to improve the efficiency and stability of the trading desk.
This is an autonomous role in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment that looks to attract and reward the best in the industry. You will interact on a daily basis with Traders, Quants, Global Support, Infrastructure and Development teams, therefore strong communication skills are a must.
The successful candidate must be able to work in a changing / fast flowing environment, and instinctively make risk-aware decisions, sometimes based on limited information available.
Experience Required
3-5 years experience in Linux-based Systems (servers/workstations/backups/networks);
Strong UNIX/Shell scripting skills;
5 Years + in a Support Centric role (ideally in Finance)
Good understanding of Networking Infrastructure (LAN / WAN, TCP/IP)
Exposure to MySQL Database administration;
Familiarity with Trading Systems and Markets
Proactive and professional approach;
Ability to quickly learn new skills while on the job
Enthusiastic, diligent, and willing to adapt to a high-energy environment.
Ability to interact with traders and perform in a high-pressure environment.
Desirable Skill-sets
Knowledge of PERL / Python scripting languages;
Experience in C++ / Java;
Bloomberg / Reuters exposure.
