PROJECT ENGINEER 1 - ATK

The Mulwala project team has an opening for a Process/Manufacturing Project Engineer with responsibilities to support technology transfer, production start-up and provide process engineering support of a new NC & Single base facility being built in Mulwala, Australia. The position will support all activities related to a new plant startup such as facility construction, operations support, production planning, operational start-up, and product manufacture up to final acceptance of nitrocellulose and nine different single-base propellant formulations in the new production facility. Position requires relocation to Australia for a long-term expatriate assignment expected to last at least 2 years.Position offers paid relocation and other lucrative benefits including competitive salary premium, and monthly stipends for housing, vehicle, and other goods & services.
Requirements include BS in engineering science or related field. Experience working with nitrocellulose, propellant manufacturing or other energetic materials is preferable. However,experience with chemical manufacturing operations will be considered. Experience in process engineering and production operations relating to energetic materials. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to support production and work directly with Lead Propellant Engineering role. Ability to develop procedures and quality assurance documentation. Responsible for monitoring production and product process control activitiesas well as analysis of process and product data to determine the production processing parameter requirements to make acceptable products. Successful candidate must be a self-starter and capable of providing direction that requires significant complexity and scope to ensure successful product qualification. Be able to present and effectively communicate to operations personnel, eng
ineering staff, management and ATK internal and external customers. Capable of planning and understanding risk associated with processing and handling energetic and hazardous materials. Ability to report technical status of project to internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Preferred: Five plus years experience in the nitrocellulose or propellant manufacturing industry, preferably both. Experience in chemical, quality, technical or process engineering. Understanding of product qualification requirements, testing and use of ballistic data. Experience in other energetic manufacturing and a strong background in process safety. Experience with production operations is highly desirable. Good communication andwriting skills. Prefer experience with hazards and safety requirements for handling energetic materials and processes.
